When I started this site, I knew I wanted to do whatever I could to help spread and share knowledge.
One of the easier ways to share knowledge and get content out there is to use Pinterest. I’m not so sure about you, but I just don’t have the time to spend a few hours a day finding and pinning great content.
In the 10 days I’ve been using Tailwind and Tribes to schedule my pins (both from here and from Cowgirl Runs) Pinterest has moved from referring 11% of my traffic in September to 32% of my traffic in October. Friends, that’s a huge increase!
Why You Should Join Tailwind Tribes
Tribes are relatively new, and have saved me a ton of time when it comes to finding and pinning great content. They’re also a fantastic way to get your content pinned and shared.
What are Tailwind Tribes?
Tailwind Tribes are similar to a group Pinterest board. You will need an invite (either via email or link) to be able to join and have access to the pins on the board.
What if I don’t subscribe to Tailwind?
You can add content and pin content from your Tribes even if you don’t subscribe to Tailwind.
However (and this is quite last minute) if you sign up using a referral link before October 21 (that’s tomorrow) you’ll receive a $30 credit. This works out to 2-months free on the month-to-month plan. Even better is if you sign up for the annual plan. Month-to-month you’ll pay $180 for the year. On the annual plan you pay $120 but you can save $30 using the referral link and only pay $90 for the year. That’s a savings of 50% off the month-to-month plan.
Yes, that was a long explanation, and yes, I signed up using that deal.
How do Tribes work?
Each Tribe you join will have a different set of rules. The idea behind Tribes is to get your content seen, and pinned, so you’re most likely going to see Tribes with a 1-for-1 rule. This means for every pin of yours you add to the Tribe, you will share a pin from someone else.
The most successful Tribes are going to be the ones with the most people adding and sharing.
I use Tailwind Board Lists to add pins to multiple Pinterest Boards at once (I’m going to share more about my Tailwind strategy in a few weeks). (Courtney also wrote about post about Tailwind yesterday, because great minds – so you should check it out!).
What Tribes are available?
There are a lot of Tribes out there. However, as of right now, you aren’t able to search for them.
I’m currently a member of the following Tribes (click the links to join):
Remember, you don’t need to have a Tailwind account to join, but you do need to be adding and repinning in order to receive a benefit from being part of a Tribe.
It’s important to remember to pin after adding to the Tribe, and try to submit content on a regular basis.Learn how Ange used @TailwindApp to increase @Pinterest by 3x in just 10 days! #blogchat Click To Tweet
